MAP 2026 Daniel Burnham Award for a Comprehensive Plan

 

Known for its strong sense of community and high quality of life, the City lacked one thing – a downtown. Its historic core had been torn down for a highway expansion. Hudsonville sought to change that, adopting a bold plan to construct a new downtown.

 

MCKENNA’S ROLE

» An updated vision for the downtown, with specific redevelopment steps, guidance, and ideas for development.

» A series of parks, greenways, and trails to connect existing green space and recreational amenities, as well as create new ones.

» A vision for bringing public transit to the community for the first time.

 

OUTCOME

A Master Plan that created a vision for the coming decades. A Parks and Recreation Plan that expanded upon their current system. And a Zoning Ordinance that would help to ensure implementation of the vision.
