Assistant Planner

Sommer Nafal, NCI

Sommer Nafal is an Assistant Planner at McKenna’s Northville office. She recently completed her Master of Urban and Regional Planning at Michigan State University, where she also earned her Bachelor of Science in the same field, along with a minor in Cities: Environment, Design, and Society.

Sommer previously served as a Planning Services Intern for the Charter Township of Canton, contributing to site plan reviews, citizen participation, and urban forestry planning. She also worked with the National Charrette Institute as a Graduate Assistant, where she helped develop virtual community engagement strategies and updated training materials. Her approach to planning is rooted in inclusive engagement and sustainable design.
