
Associate Planner
Maya Baker
Maya joined McKenna as an intern in 2022, became an Assistant Planner in 2023, and now serves as an Associate Planner. She contributes to a wide range of planning and policy projects, including Master Plan and zoning ordinance updates, fair housing analyses, and community development initiatives. Maya brings curiosity and resourcefulness to her work—continually exploring new strategies and best practices to inform local solutions. She also creates clear, engaging GIS maps to support public engagement and final deliverables, provides zoning administration services to several communities, and takes pride in helping build meaningful connections between municipal leaders and residents.
Maya received a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Sociology at DePaul University, and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from Taubman College at the University of Michigan.
Outside of work, Maya is also a volunteer and board member for the Great Lakes Invitational Conference Association, a non-profit that hosts Model United Nations conferences for high school students.
