Pittsfield Charter Township, Michigan Pittsfield Township Master Plan — Public Involvement

When leaders in Pittsfield Township (Washtenaw County, MI) recognized their existing master plan was outdated and no longer reflected the community's vision and values, they solicited help from McKenna professionals to create a new one to address greening programs, alternative energy initiatives, multi-modal transportation, transit-oriented development and other progressive approaches to the Township's future development.

Working with Township leaders, McKenna planners recognized the Township's desire to base its new master plan on extensive input from the public and in response, designed an inclusive public participation program that included a dedicated project website, a dedicated project Facebook page, a two-day design charrette, a Township-wide bus tour, an online survey and numerous committee and stakeholder meetings.

These combined public participation programs were enormously successful, drawing input and ideas from all sectors of the community and building public support for the plan from its earliest stages.

The Pittsfield Township Master Plan will further distinguish the community as one of the region's leading progressive communities and a premier place in which to live, work, play and do business.
