Charrette Helps Lyon Chart New Downtown

(February 2009) The McKenna-led charrette in Lyon Charter Township (Oakland Co., MI) drew nearly 100 residents, business leaders and other members of the community - all wanting to take part in shaping the future of Lyon's downtown district.

With McKenna landscape architects and planners facilitating the discussion and visioning process, participants debated the future look and feel of Lyon's downtown district, considering everything from building height to traffic plans and design features. Real-time drawings allowed participants to watch their ideas take shape before their eyes, eventually giving way to a new Vision Plan with which the Township can begin to structure this vitally important district (see photos and sketches below).
